Hello,

Due to a leaking piece of guttering at the side of my house, the bottom rendering over the brickwork has been exposed. It has been like this since I moved in a few years back however I think now is the time to resolve it.

I can either try and find a local builder to take on the job or (preferably if possibly) handle the job myself. I am not a builder or such like but if the job is straight forward I should be able to handle it.

I have attached a picture showing the area I need to fix, it is ~ 5/6 meters long and 2 to 3 inches high. Behind it is a layer of breeze block bricks then damp proof membrane and then more breeze block bricks onto where the harling is.

Is this something a novice could do with the help of another novice? I presume chipping away what remains, brushing clear the area and then slapping on a coat of X may do it?

I may be many miles from the mark on this so I do hope someone can help me with some advice?

Thanks very much.
Anthony

i dont think you can apply render below the DPC as this would make water seep up above it causing it to flake off again

if you use eva and put in drip bead and water proofer m8te it can bo done
