Hi guys

just thought i would ask before i go and waste my money!

i need to install a 2 gang switched socket like this! in my kitchen and i wondered if there are any guides / tips so that i can do it myself rather than paying for an electrician!

If anyone knows any guides or tips it would be greatly appreciated!

But I assume you are talking about a socket-outlet for plugging in appliances.

As it's a kitchen current regulations require notification to building controls
normally a tasty fee and cheaper to get a registered competent electrician as they can sign their own work off and notify at a fraction of the cost.

If you did decide to go down the DIY route and notify to Building Controls.
You need to consider

Depth of chases:
1/3rd of walls skin/leaf on vertical chase and 1/6th on horizontal chase.
Any cable buried within wall, less than 50mm and not mechanically protected, will require 30mA RCD protection as will the socket outlet.
You can take only one spurred socket outlet form a socket on a ring final circuit, you cannot take a spur off a socket that is a spur.
