Do I need a U channel?

Hi,

I'm just about to order a Merlyn 10mm shower wall with top stabliser:

It will go onto a Merlyn tray:

Do I need the U channel as well for the bottom of the shower wall where it meets the tray?

Nope just at least a 6mm silicone seal profile and in this case do it inside and out along the tray. 10mm glass will be very heavy so it'll be a 2 man job and make sure the wall and the tray are as close to a perfect right angle as they can be, as it will make life a whole lot simpler.

If you use a riser kit on a stone resin tray, do you still need to use mortar etc?

Nope .... don't use a riser kit to start with, they're the worst things ever. Use a 100mm CLS with a 18mm WBP ply top plinth, depending on the height you need to clear the trap you may want to double top it, or cut a floor section out. Really depends on how high you want the tray TBH.

Thanks Rob. Any usual solutions for the side where the 'gap' will be seen? The riser kits have a panel I think.

You just buy a piece of wood or plastic moulding/facing and fit it to suit.
