Hi,

The indicators on my wifes Nissan Micra (2000S) have started to behave eratically. They sometimes work ok but sometimes they go fast then slow or stop working all together. I suspect that this may be due to a faulty relay but am not sure. I don't want to buy a replacement and then find out that it was something else. Does anybody think that it is highly likely to be the relay or somthing else or have any ideas about diagnosing the problem.

Thanks!

It's either going to be the relay or the switch.

Relay's tend to just stop working where as switches tend to be more intermittant in operation.

Hi CJ,

Thanks for replying. Do you mean the switch in the stalk? I would have thought that that would tend to only affect signalling in one direction and wouldn't tend to cause the speed to vary. Does that make sense?

could be... but maybe more likely a bad earth somewhere. Wireing on cars is a nightmare to sort out. try cleaning the bulb sockets etc. If one bulb isnt makeing a good earth (or is a diferent wattage) all the indicators will act erraticly.
