I would doubt its anything to do with the pumbing.

Try running the machine on full cycle hight temp wash with nothing in it. Small cap full of bleach can also be useful.

This will useully clear the bacterial growth that accumulates in the pump and hose areas.

Air admittance valves ( Durgo Valves ) should only be fitted
within a building to avoid the risk of them freezing.

Its a stub stack, it does not need to be vented

But why does a normal stack need venting? Or allow air in.

I thought the vent was there to prevent a vacuum being created?
 
A vent from the soil pipe is mainly to vent methane build up from the manhole, if a stub stack is in the property usually the property would already have a vented stack, there are certain criterias the stub stack must comply too
