I think the juxtaposition of contrasting colours makes a bold statement, and by challenging the blandness which would otherwise afflict it, lifts the installation to a level where it can be an inspiration to us all.
Thanks for the input. i just think its a real head scratcher and you can imagine my delight on my last job when i discovered the builder filled the loft in the new extension full of 200mm insulation.
Which is great for the householders heating bills... not so great for me as i de-rate all cables which pass through to supply first floor by x0.68 ..
I hope that your derating is based on the length of cable run through insulation, rather than the thickness of insulation.
But, look, insulation has such a detrimental effect on cable selection that you are always better off avoiding it all together.
How about using some oversized trunking to get through the insulation? Or create a short insulation-free duct to take your cable straight up into the void and then clip it out of the way.
