I believe he is.
Muslims are seen as a potential threat in America (as here) but, unlike us, the Yanks don't pussyfoot around.
Of course, Obama is doing just that and I believe, for that reason, he is not the most popular president they've had.

But he's not daft. He's just saying outrageous things to grab headlines, and following the rule that there's no such thing as bad publicity.

Of course, such people must think that mass shootings (or just shootings in total) by good ole' Americans do not warrant action, such as gun control, but hey, what's new.

Our ruling

A viral image says the number of Americans killed by terrorism in the last decade is 24, while the number of Americans killed by guns in the last decade is 280,024.

NowThis, the creators of the image, told us they only counted lives lost to domestic jihadist attacks, though the image doesn’t specify that. If we look at deaths due to all extremist attacks on U.S. soil, the number goes up to 71. A more accurate count for gun deaths between 2005 and 2015 is 301,797.

Though the image’s numbers are slightly off, that doesn’t undercut the point: guns have claimed many more lives than terrorist attacks. We rate the claim Mostly True.

Here's one american's view but given Trump's showing in the polls there must be many who hold sympathies with him

Personally I think he may do fairly well maybe even ending up as Republican candidate in 2016 but I don't believe he has much chance of actually becoming the next president thankfully.

A Muslim commits the (third*) worst mass murder this year in the US and the proposal is to ban all Muslims.

Almost all the other mass murders (about 200) have been committed by non-Muslim US citizens. Time to ban all US citizens from entering the UK?

EDIT it is the worst shooting this year, the seventh worst in US history (but not including the Oklahoma bomb or of course 9/11) but there have been over 350 multiple shooting murders this year already. There will be more. The fraction committed by Muslims is almost certainly lower than the fraction of Muslims in the US population.
