Doorway

Hi,

An opening (doorway) needs to cut through to access the main part of my loft. My architect has recommended leaving 250mm of brick beyond the purlin to maintain support.

I was wondering if this sounds correct?

It's for the structural engineer to calculate not the architect to reckon.
