Double Glazing or Panel

Hi All,

Replacing my backdoor which has a side window. Effectively it's four panels. 2 in the door and 2 to the side. I'm wanting to get in as much light as possible and I discussed with the builder putting in 4 panels of double glazing and the impact on heat. He said there wasn't much difference between double glazing and a UPVC panel. Is that right? What does everyone think?
 
Thex have to comply with the same regs. So he might be right.
