DPC or Emgineering bricks for new extension?

Put some DPC between two concrete blocks. Now try and pull it out...

Are they leaving that wood in there? That could have gone on the fire!

With cavity walls, the fact that the external leaf may and can move on the DPC when it naturally expands and contacts is desirable.
