I have a small area at the front of my house, this has had cobbled drive runners put in to park the car on, the rest left grass.
My problem is the areas around where the car is, ie where you walk have, over time compacted, and now waterlog easily, and the grass is so trodden it doesnt recover in the summer.

The area is one side 7' wide 10' long narrowing to 2'
other side, 4' wide 12' long widening to 8'

So...

what is the best way around this? my thoughts were to lay some drainage, each section would only need once peice of drain along its length, then when relaying use some of that matting you get in grass carparks/caravan piches, the harder tile type rather than the mesh.

would this be the best course of action? I am not going to gravel/tarmac/pave this area, so no suggestions of that please...
