If its a replacement radiator you can just isolate the old one with the valves at each end. You may get a little spillage as you take the old rad off but this can be minimised by placing your thumbs over the ends. If you are installing a new radiator altogether and need to fit new pipework then clearly the guy coming to do it isn't competent. Do you think you should be using him?
