Hi, im wanting to change the front and rear brake pipes on my MK4 golf. Is it just normal procedure for bleeding but with out imediatley replacing fluid? i.e rear right, left front right, left? or do i have to drain from master cylinder also?

It sounds like you are doing most or all of your brake pipes, so basically you'll have to bleed from scratch in the order that you say. However, see if you can crack open the front caliper bleed nipples before you get stuck in, and the same applies for the rear wheel cylinders if you don't intend to replace those. You could also have problems with the brake proportioning valve on the rear axle - the pipes are swines to shift on these and I usually just cut them off. If I'm not going to the master cylinder itself I try to plug the open pipe with a plug or cap of some sort. One of those vacuum bleeder kits from Halfords etc will help you with the bleeding, but you just need to be patient and go over each bleed nipple time and time again. Cheers John
