draining system

hello.

im changing a rad valve and wanted to know when i drain the system is it best to turn all valves off at the other rads. also got a couple of extension tails with o rings on them, i take it there is no need to ptfe the threads when i fix them into the rads. i just want to make sure. thanks[/b]

You can close off other rads, Is the valve upstairs or downstairs? Iwould always put ptfe on the rad tails. I would also think about adding inhibitor just to ensure the system is running at full capacity.
