Dripping noise from inside radiator

Had all the rads replaced last year, keeping the existing boiler and (mostly) the existing plumbing. Took a rad off to decorate, then put it back (and taken another one off in the next room, which is still off).

A couple of weeks after putting the rad back, it's started making a kind of dripping/spitting noise. There is no leak, and in fact the noise is definitely coming from inside the radiator itself. Specifically, seems to be the top corner on the flow side (ie above the TRV) where the noise comes from.

Changing the TRV setting (or shutting it off) doesn't seem to make a difference, and although it mostly occurs when the heating's been on and running for a bit, it occasionally happens even when the heating's off.

Any ideas? I should add it's an open-vented pumped system running off an oil-fired non-condensing boiler.

Did you fit the plastic clips that go onto the radiator brackets before you fitted the radiator?

Hi Andy, thanks for the reply. Yes, the plastic clips are in place, but in any case it's not the typical "clicking" noise of the rad expanding/contracting against the brackets... it's more of a dripping type noise and it's *definitely* coming from within the radiator itself. I guess the next step would be to drain down and refill?
