dripping unvented cylinder

hi i have dripping pressure reducing valve. it can be seen in the following picture

There are at least 4 installation errors visible in that one small picture. Getting it installed by a competent qualified technician would be a good start.

If the dripping water is going down the black tundish, then it is the pressure relief valve, or/and the temperature and pressure relief valve that is dripping. You need to have it replaced by someone who has passed the appropriate CITB or IoP training course.

it is an unvented cylinder. the manufacturer is oso. ive been told that the air vessel might just need recharging. or does it need to be replaced?

thanks for any info.

Are you talking about that drip that can just be seen on the end of the pressure reducing valve(just below the little green bit)?

If so then its kaput IMHO.

A new one will be required and if you get someone to do it they need to be suitable qualified.

If its hot water dripping then you need to isolate the heat source and have it checked by a qualified person immediately,it could be one of several faults though.
Its obviously been fitted by a numpty, flexi braided hose is a no no, and what is that below the Tundish ( where the water can be seen dripping).

It looks as if those copper pipes have been heated excessively to turn black ,so this could have caused damage when first installed, looks a shoddy job.

FYI, that braided hose comes with the kit on an OSO cylinder. There is a PRV, the relief valve connected to the braided hose is for incoming mains, which is linked to the T & P relief valve below it. The 22mm copper pipe has cold mains running through it, up and down. Dunno why it's been done that way, maybe lack of lateral space, but what you see in the pic is what you get in the kit.

If you can, as was said in the previous post, check the temp of the leaky water in the tundish. This will give you some indication of which relief valve has failed / got a bit of cr@p stuck under the washer of one of the valves.

That is like something set up for fault finding on the G3.

Wow! As the other guys have said; call somebody mate! The discharge, the bit that is screwed up on your installation is very important, potential scolding water could come out of here at 6bar plus. Its an incident waiting to happen.

the apartment block is only 10 years old so im assuming that all the cylinders within it have been installed the same way!

can anyone recommend a certified plumber who works in central manchester?

So just to be clear. The drip is NOT from the tundish, its dripping off the end of the "Pressure reducing valve"

rant over  [/quote]
