Drylining question

Hello,

I am drylining my brick walls with plasterboard.

I've been told i need to coat the bricks with a weak pva mix, is this correct. I have read in some places that this isnt required. but to get the ebst results its a good idea to?

As I understand the pva acts as a seal?

Or should I dab the boards on while the pva is tacky?

PVA will help prevent any suction that can be created by the wall material.
But priming the wall with PVA prior to the use of dry-wall adhesive is not a must do, it will work without it.

so do i coat the walls in a pva, then let it dry and then dryline the walls?

or so i coat the walls in pva and before it drys dry line the walls?

Exceptionally smooth surfaces need a bonding primer (not PVA) but if it’s conventional brick or block work, you don’t need to PVA before dot & dab, it you will kill the suction & the adhesive will take longer to stick; just brush any loose dust off the walls. Do not try & dot & dab over wet/sticky PVA. You should not dot & dab plasterboard directly to solid brick external walls with no cavity.
