which ducting is better, solid or flexible for running a duct in a straight line for monrose 6 inch fan in a shower room to the outside wall

For a straight run choose solid every time. It won't sag or allow condensation to collect in corrugations. Speaking of condensation, try to arrange a slight downward slope towards the outside so that this can escape.

do we mean air ducting or cable ducting? If air ducting as pre felix's comments. If cable ducting it depends whart it is routed through, you may not need it at all.
