Hi , Yes you can make a DVD with Nero 6 assuming that you have the correct plug in's for the Nero Vision Express element of the Nero Suite.
Open Nero Vision Express and if you dont have a 'create DVD' option then you dont have the plug in and will need to download it.
As far as editing movies prior to burning I would use Windows Movie Maker. Assuming that you use Windows Xp its built into Windows.
Click Start , All Programs, Accesories
