Can anyone tell me the capacity of earth braiding sweated onto the lead covering to the incomer. Not a very exact measurement but the braid is about 1.5mm thick and 20mm wide.

that would make it about 30mm² Seems like more than enough for a domestic earth.

anyway if it is sweated onto the sheath it should IMO be considered as belonging to the DNO and not your concern

Why do you want to know? It is not your part of the installation. The braid will be terminaed into a henley block, and from here onwards is your responsibility.

Put your 16mm from that henley to your board, and record 16mm on the EIC form. Ignore the braid - it is the DNO's

Thanks - I wasn't going to touch it - yes it is terminated but into a MET - from which I have run 16mm and entered on MWC. Agreed its the DNO's - just looks very insubstantial.

it is bound to be less than 30mm, because it is not solid. It is made part of metal and part of air.

I would guess about 50% metal. So, about a 16mm sq equivalent which is adequate. It will overheat less under heavy load because it has better exposure to the air.

Who cares? It aint ours. The DNO fit it, and terminate to a henley for us to connect to.
