Easy 1 for yous guys but not for me

hi guys, was after a little help with electricians jargon, please can someone explain what these terms mean

1, load
2, common
3, feed
4,loop

Went to change a light switch and a fused switch today, when i looked at the new switch the markings were different to the old one, the light switch i guess L becomes L1
L1 becomes L2
L2 becomes L3

its the fused switch that confuses me, on the switch it mentions the above but the wiring diagram uses different terminology,

old switch connections
C = common now L1
L1 = switch connection 1 (or 1 way) now L2
L2 = switch connection 2 (or part of two way switching) now L3

so i take it this is this the wire from switch to appliance ?


common - live feeder to control device device (not lamp or floodlight)
feed - same as common

this is the main live coming into the switch from mains ?
