A while since I have been on the FORUM. I have been advised by an architect to get some structural engineer calcs done, but the quote for two calculations is more than the architect charged me for the entire set of plans! Basically, I need a 2m access in what was an external wall, but is no longer - it is simply a double skin internal wall holding up a floor. Likewise, the second wall, used to be an external wall but now simply supports the floor joists. This one will need a span of 5m however. there are no point loads, and the floor will support standard foot traffic. Can anyone provide me with a tool (noted the hugely complex ones, but far too complicated) or can someone provide me a more reasonable quote to generate the calculations?
