Whats the kit i can buy to link into the elec. boiler so that when the shower turns on it cuts the boiler off , so the comsumer board doesnt overload.
AS Boiler is 9kw, water heat. 3kw, & shower 9.5kw
The elec, heating co. mentioned it to me when i bough the boiler but since then ive changed the systen as theres no gas supply.
On the boiler there is a N/a connection which apparantly you link to this device and temp. turrns the boiler off.

come on brainy people give us a clue!!!!!!

Simple solution is remember to turn the boiler off before you shower !

Or if you must automate it a relay will be needed to energise when the shower is turned on. To do this simply would mean connecting it to the supply side of the shower pullswitch, so the boiler would turn off when the shower is energised. If you left the shower switch on then the water wouldn't heat !

You could make the system as involved as you like really, current monitoring, flow switches etc etc

I would imagine there are a pair of wires in the boiler which if broken shut the boiler down - these must be linked to a n/c contact of the relay. When the relay is energised the contacts open.

Or you could have a changeover switch at the mains which either does the boiler or shower. You would need to remember to switch it though !

Have a look at suppliers to the French domestic market of load shedding systems.

The sort of thing you want is very common there - almost universal in fact, because of their charging structure which makes it punitively expensive to have a supply to your house with anything like the capacity we take for granted in the UK.

The only problem is its not my property so turning the boiler off wont be a go'er as the tennants are, lets say THICK BUGGERS
The boiler has a N/A connection which u can link to other appliances, so that for instance when the shower kicks in the boiler shuts down, pretty much like a combi boiler shuts heating off when demand for hot water.
Cheers 4 info will check it out later when have a chance 8) 8)
