Do I need to earth, items such as sinks baths ect, I have no copper piping at all in my new build even the mains water in is plastic, my part P electrician isnt sure and is trying to find out, hes newly qualified but a good bloke. If I do need to earth do I need to run earth cables back to the consumer unit or to an earth rod.

many thanks.

You do not need to BOND (not earth) anything in a special location (bath/shower room for example) if it is fed by plastic pipe.

However, you still need to provide supplementary equipotential protective bonding between th circuits in a special location unless you provide 30mA RCD protection to these circuits.

As you should be providing 30mA RCD protection to cables burried in walls anyway, it kind of makes sup-bonding pointless.

Im sure your ?PART P? spark is a good bloke, but he should also know his stuff, you want your install done correctly first time.
