Hi

I did my homework and thought it will very easy job. Simply because the wiring for my salus ep200 is exactly as wiring for Wiser 2 Channel programmer. Both are attached.

Yesterday finally found some time to take ep200 off and install wiser on. Same time, I disconnected my old room RTS1 thermostat. New programmer powered up as expected. I had green light on water and heating. I went through creating account, fine no issue here. The only problem is that heating and hot water did not work. Basically when I increased temp. on wiser room thermostat, (call for heat) boiler did not fire up.

This is my current wiring. It is as required by wiser programmer.

This is my RTS1 wiring.

The yellow cable is call for heat! I should bridge this wire somewhere else? Without this cable wiser will not be able to control heat. Also on the programmer side there is no yellow cable. So where it is going to?

Diagram for EP200

Diagram for 2 channel wiser

I would be grateful for any help.

You cannot just disconnect your existing thermostat. if you do the heating wiring is left open circuit (as if the thermostat is permanently off) and the heating will not come on.

If the wiring is still in place, either the yellow and red wires should both be connected together at the thermostat, or if you want to remove the thermostat, trace the cable back to its origin remove all three wires and then insert a link between the terminals that you have just removed the red and yellow wires from.

Don't know why the hot water didn't operate though, unless the water in the hot water cylinder was already hot enough.

Great, thanks for replay.

I will try this set up today, looks like im only one step away !!

Hot water, thinking now about it. i dint test it propery. I will do this today again.

Quick update, all works fine now. it was the red and yellow cable. Brilliant im happy with this.

now i wonder if i could bother you again, i think with your experience it will take no time to give me you opinion.

So, phase two is to replace my existing TRV's with wiser one's. My valves are not the standard one's. As wiser trv dont fit it. So from wiser valve guide https://wiser.draytoncontrols.co.uk/sites/default/files/documents/4369_adapter_guide_2pg_v4_web.pdf , i thought mine is Herz, the hart shape on the valve. So bought couple of this. Unfortunately this don't seem to fit on properly. What i mean is that, diameter is perfect, but it will not screw on as the top of valve nob is too long.

I wonder if you could have a look on this valve and see it this is herz one. photo attached.

Anyway thank you for your help.

Glad it's working, sorry can't help with the valves, never used wiser or even heard of Herz. There doesn't seem to be a universal standard for TRV's usually if you want to change, it's a matter of swapping the whole thing, valve and actuator.

EDIT:
Tip for next time, the TRV question would probably have attracted more replies if you had posted it as a new thread. There is nothing in the subject line about TRV's to attract those 'in the know', and it's buried away at the bottom of a long thread about controls which those who find that boring won't read to the bottom.
