erecting a curtain pole on a landing window

Hello everyone

I need to erect a curtain pole over the small window on my landing.
The window is quite high above the staircase. I cannot reach the left side of the window to screw the pole into the existing batten. How can I do this job in safety? I can't see any way of erecting a step-ladder on the stairs, so I need some help please.
