error code woes

Hi, ive got a candy grando 7kg and today after I hit start it began to fill then promptly stopped and E04 came up which, with some research, I found it could mean water in the base so hubby checked the pipes, filter and took the back off and found a metal bra bone, he removed that and found nothing else so put it bk together to try again but the same thing happened. My question is what else could it be or do I need to clear the code somehow before it will work

After removal of the obstruction was the appliance checked for leaks?
