I am fitting a couple of worktops, cheap laminate chipboard, i have been reading about expansion gaps at the rear, is this necessary with manmade board? The only reason is you will be able to see some of the edges and therefore see the gap at the rear.
Also i have run a worktop into a window, removed the sill and am going to rest it on the bricks.
I was planning on putting a dpm on the top of the bricks. to stop any moisture coming up. However the rear of the gap bridges the inner and outer skin of the wall. do i need to worry about this or take any special measures.
A wodden sill was bonded directly to the brickes before and lasted 40 years without much warp?
