Where should the lead off the piework be for the expantion system?

Should it be after the boiler before the rads or should it be on the the return pipe before the boiler?

I mean do you branch off to the tank from the boiler before the rads or from the return after the rads before the boiler

Freddie - why do you ask, new system or old?

It was something that came up in a conversation---i would have thought it would be up to the tank off the return before the boiler but a plumber told me he always did his straight after the boiler infact the first t'off

i fitted a universal expansion vessel just last week. a replacement for a knackered one. it was fitted on the return just before the boiler.
also the instructions stated to fit it there.
cooler water i guess harms the rubber less. (and it works a treat now !)
