Exposed brick chimney breast sealer ??

Hi,
I've exposed the brickwork on my fireplace but don't know what to seal it with, PVA and water have been recommended but I've herd it leaves a glossy finish,
I'm looking for a matt finish, just to seal in the dust.
Any help appreciated.

Any finish will leave a different texture to whats there. I have used thinned down polyurethane varnish in the past and it worked well.

An impregnating sealer for tiles or stone will work well and be quite matt but will be pretty spendy
