Hi All

We have a side gate (picture attached) that is 1.7 x 0.9m and easy to climb over - had people from some flats at the back using our garden as a thoroughfare and jumping over gate to get to the street ‍♂️.

The ground level on the other side is higher so it makes it easier to jump down. I’d like to extend the height somehow - a trellis would be too weak. What are my options to attach planks to existing gate?

Trellis works well and is recommended by the police for fences.
Making something that is too wobbly to climb stops people trying to. A spot of anti climb paint won’t hurt.

Both you and your neighbour already have spikes on the top?

If you don't mind the place looking like a prison, a few horizontal strands of barbed wire (going over your neighbour's gate too) would be ideal

Those spikes are worn down so I’ll replace with stronger and larger ones.

I like the idea of something like a trellis even if weak -might looker nicer than bits of wood drilled onto the gate!
