I have just acquired seven of these chromate treated aluminium wall lamps:

I want to keep them looking good for as long as possible - is there any mileage in spraying an additional layer of some sort of weatherproof sealer on them (obviously not the glass parts)?

With respect to the very upper part of the lamp - I don't need the light shining upwards through the glass and have wondered about spraying the inner with some kind of chrome finish to reflect the light downwards onto the path around the house.

Not too sure if either approach is worthwhile or feasible?

Thanks...Sean.

Can't see any mileage in painting them. They last a few years.
