I am about to wire in an Xpelair DX100PC extractor fan. The diagram suggests that I install a fuse between the isolating switch and the fan, but makes no mention of the size. What size fuse should I use?

Thanks in advance

Probably 3A, but you should try phoning/emailing the manufacturers technical support people..

Should I just use a Fused connection unit to introduce the fuse onto the circuit?

The FCU is the ideal way to fuse a circuit like that one, put it at the point where the spur leaves the ring final circuit. Label it accordingly.
