F220 Contract - Need to Cancel

Morning,
having recently undertaken a contract with a tradesman to carry out some window work, I have now lost faith in them and wish to cancel the contract.

I signed the contract on Sunday (Nov 25th). Am I right in saying that legally I have the right to cancel up to 7 days after this date?

I gave a deposit (<£1k) for materials relating to the job. Am I rightfully able to claim back this deposit? Assuming this is the case, should the tradesman have already spent this money on materials, what would be the way to resolve this?

Any advice (urgent) my appreciated.
