Factory In China Building New Classic Car Complete Shells

Anyone heard of this or seen the video of the work you wouldn't believe going into remaking whole classic car shells? One of the most incredible videos I have ever seen. From what I can tell some of the shells they're making are; Ford Broncos, Landrover Defenders, Datsun 240/260Z, VW camper/bus Mk1, Ford Mustang, Toyota 4X4, pickup, Porsche 964, etc, etc. Possibly Merc SL gullwing. There's massive factory making the shells fitted with doors, boots, bonnets, etc. Said they cost between US$ 10,000 to 16,000. A lot of the work that goes into them is done by hand on a vast scale.

This has been going on a while, Mk1 Escorts, Classic Mini, Land rover, camper vans etc, I believe one of the issues that existed was when it comes to the DVLA, that the DVLA did not recognise the shell as a direct replacement so the car must be registered as a kit car. But I think that's been changed now. But then what classic car owners want something made in China? It would be good if they fixed all the crappy bits about that existed on the original versions of the shells.
 
I've seen Wheeler Dealer episodes where small UK engineering companies have bought up the old tooling, and knock out replacement parts for classics and not-so-classics. Shells and body parts included.
 
I watched that video. I don’t think that “made in China” is necessarily a bad thing?
Your iPhone and whatever you are looking at this board on are likely made there.

The Chinese make what is effectively a Harley Davidson under licence that has a better engine than the model that Harley discontinued.

What they are doing is scanning good originals, cnc manufacturing new tooling, hand finishing and stampings new pressings. They then claim that the parts are checked before the dies are used in manufacture.

Loads of companies make panels in the uk.
Personally , If the quality of the steel is good, and they fit, they are just as good as made elsewhere? Possibly better?

Being a biker, Indian fuel tanks for classic bikes can be a bit hit and miss, but they are often hand made and can be excellent. Back in the day, morris minor parts were made in India and the fit was brilliant.

I don’t see an issue with these parts, if the quality is good?
