faulty light fixture

I've recently moved into a new house and in one of the upstairs bedrooms the light fixture isn't working. I think it might be because at some point there was a leak in the roof in the vicinity of where the fixture is, and this has probably put it out of action. If I were to call out an electrician, how big a job would this be for him? I'm talking more from a cost point of view!

Thanks
