I have had my 1998 1.8 diesel cylinder head repaired after the timing belt failed but I am stuck on a couple of things. My Lindsay Porters workshop manual appears to describe a different engine to my Endura one so some of the information is sketchy or incomplete.

I need:
a) The torque figure for the central bolt holding the camshaft pulley onto the camshaft. On a previous Vauxhall I rebuilt this was a stretch type bolt which needed to be renewed if it was removed.
b) I am not sure of the tightening procedure for the torx cylinder head bolts as this is poorly described in my book.

10 4 2 6 8

Stage 1 10 n/m

stage 2 100 n/m

wait 5 minutes

stage 3 -180 degrees

stage 4 70 n/m

Dont forget to renew bolts

sorry havent got settings for crank pulley

Thanks for the info. I thought there must be an angular stage as they are stretch type bolts (my manual does not mention the 180 degree bit). Does this mean for the final stage you slacken them off then re-torque to 70Nm?

It was the camshaft pulley torque I need, not the crankshaft.

I asked my MoT place today and they had a big book giving this sort of info for just about any car. The book said:

1) 10 Nm
2) 100 Nm
3) Leave for 3 minutes
4) SLACKEN OFF BY 180 degrees, torque to 70 Nm then tighten 120 degrees

This seems to make more sense so I will do it this way.
