Hi all,

New to the forum, recently moved in to my own house so doing a lot of DIY at the moment (with a little help from my Dad!)

Just wondered if someone could enlighten me as to the best filler to use on mdf. I acquired a piano from the school I work at when we moved buildings last year. Unfortunately on the journey from school to home, the flippin thing tipped over in the back of the van and although it needed a bit of repair to it which I was going to do anyway, a great few chunks of the mdf came out on the corners. Can I use normal wood filler to fix or is there anything else that would look better? I am going to sand the whole thing down and repaint gloss black.

Thanks in advance!

Ian

Hi Ian, and welcome. You'll find it's fun here!

I always find a two part filler is best for use on MDF as it dries quickly and can be sanded to a much smoother finish than regular wood fillers. Something like this might be ideal for your situation: http://www.decoratingdirect.co.uk/viewprod/b/BONSSWF/

Car body filler is often used successfully too and is usually much cheaper.
