Hi
I removed an old electric fireplace from external load bearing brick cavity wall to find that part of the wall had been removed behind in order to install it.
I sealed it with some polystyrene blocks to reduce drafts and had a temporary log feature in its place for a while.
I now want to seal it up properly and looking for advice whether I can just fill with loft insulation and then plasterboard, or should I really be looking at getting it bricked up again?
TIA
Cheers
Phil

Just create a recessed frame, board over, with insulation behind.

Thanks Blup. This was the approach I was hoping for until someone suggested structural issues with the section missing from load bearing wall, do you think that's an issue?

Its just the inner leaf thats been removed, and that is small enough not to make a difference given the fire was there before. Or do you have that gap in both leaves.
