Filling gap between concrete slabs

I inherited a drive which at some time had had a strip added to the original concrete. Over the years a 1" gap has appeared and I would like advice as to what I could use to fill it. It would need to be waterproof, I don't have access to tar boiling I'm afraid.

just fill it with a good strong mortar like 3:1, or alternatively a concrete if you can get stones under 10mm
