Fireplace Cement

Hi, I have an open fireplace, I have re-rendered the rear of the fireplace, the grate I have has a large metal back to help deflect the heat, but my problem is the cement has now cracked again. How do I stop this happening? Is there any high temp ceramic tiles that I can tile the rear and sides of the fireplace inside??
