Fitting a new combi- exterior pipework

Hi Guys,
A friend has just had his boiler replaced for a combi boiler. The combi is located downstairs in the kitchen, but the pipework going upstairs had been routed via the outside of the house instead of going through the floor. The plumber said he didn't want to damage the upstairs laminate by going straight up from the comi. Is this a valid method of installation?

Not something i would do, do you have any pics ? I someimes run gas pipe outside but i'm assuming you mean heating/H & C. Mental.

A bad idea usually.
Heat loss. But laminate flooring is a problem.
It simply doesn't lift up and go down again.
If I were taking on the job I would have taken the flooring up for you I would have said I wouldn't guarantee how the laminate would be when put down again. That or you can get someone else to take it up and put it down again.
