Fitting a shower cubicle

I fitting a shower cubicle in my bathroom, i'm going to make a base for the shower tray from ply. Do I still have to bed in the tray into a mix of sand and cement? Many thanks...

the sand and cement support the underside of the tray, so i would say yes

I bonded my shower tray to ply wood with expanding foam. That seemed to have worked.

Its been in the bathroom 4 years now and hasnt moved!!!

Probably a stupid question........is the sand and cement mix just a mix of cement and sand or do you add water to it as well ? I guess the tray (ceramic (heavy) one) would be happy with a mix without water as well.
