I would like to install thicker DG units into my front window (georgian style hardwood) the existing DG units are only 10mm ---this means rebating the frames-----routing seems the obvious way, but messy, is there any other way I can do this??

If you're thinking of saving money by putting a thicker DG unit, it will take years to claim your money back in heat saving and also increasing condensation problem. Very tricky to cut a deeper rebate in the georgian window, maybe cheaper to replace the whole window.
