Hi, Sorry if the subjects a bit of a mouthfull, I'm not sure if they have a short name?

Anyway, after recent high winds some of these units have blown off. I've spoken to the builder (the house is only 1.5 yrs old) and said that I'm not happy at the way they've been fitted as they've been secured with plain nails, the Marley technical brochure say they should be secured with annular ring shank nails seeing as they are going into end grain.

The builder said that they can be secured a number of ways and it's the snow that's ripped them off (even though some of them are near the peak of the roof and nowhere near any snow!!).

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers,
Martin

No they haven't. I said I would do it if there was only the one and it was easily accessible but, because of the way they interlock I think they all need to be removed!!

I think you've several options:

Collect the bits, especially the nails for evidence. Print off these instructions:

1. Talk to your builder again, see if he's reconsidered.
2. Try your solicitor who dealt with the house purchase.
3. Try CAB
4. Try local Consumers' champion.
5, Try Building Control.
6. Even discuss with Marley.
7. Try House Insurance, bearing in mind that you have a duty to limit any further damage. You could mention that to your builder.

Thanks for the reply.

I'm going to send them a copy of the Marley file and will push harder for them to come and fix them properly. Hopefully this will do the trick, failing that I'll get the solicitor involved and hopefully get a result.

Thanks again for the Marley file.

Cheers,
Martin
