I want to fit 1mtr long PC panels between the upright wooden posts holding up a car port.

I intend to screw end closure strips to each side and slide the panels up into place.

This is going to be a tight fit pushing these panels into position and might require some
lubricant to achieve this.

What lube would be safe to use on PC / plastic ?
ie 3in1 oil? vasoline? soap? furniture polish? fairy liquid? etc.

Regards
Colin

Why "between?"

It will be much easier to screw them to the face.

Seems a bit weird what you are doing but anyway if you are using sheet closure left and right then you can cut your poly down a little on the width so it slides up smoothly. Don't forget you really should leave 5mm each side as poly does expand in the heat. Your issue should be what to stop them from sliding out.
Water soluble drainage lube would be best. Fairy could seep out and it stains the white sheet closure a little on the edges.

Thanks JohnD and Mw Roofline for your imputs.

You are quite right it would be easier and quicker to screw to the face but being as I am retired I am lucky to have 'all the time in the world'
to make a feature of this project.

Advice taken on allowing for heat expansion but being as the panels will be only half metre wide by one metre long they may not need a full
10mm o/a clearance.

As for stopping them sliding out - a couple of angle brackets each side should suffice. This will enable me to occasionally remove the panels
for cleaning as I am unable to get to the other side

I will post a photo when completed and look forward to your comments!

Kind regards
Colin
