I have an old fireplace, the bricks which make up the fireback of the fireplace are becoming loose and the cement is falling out. Can I point this up with fire cement? If so, any tips?? THANKYOU!

"Can I point this up with fire cement?" this will be very unusual for you for safety reason.so you can start it construction with a new beginning.

Care to expand at all? any reasoning behind your post? why is it unsafe? I plan to scrape out the old cement and replace it? is there nothing I can do but replace the whole thing??
