I will be installing a sliding door this weekend into an outbuilding.

As the door is second hand it's half glazed (the fixed bit), I intend to use metal straps attached to the side of the door frame that extend 75mm from the inside frame (into the room) I will then use concrete screws through the brackets into the masonry pier (450mm thick)
One the opening side, the pier is only two brick wide, so will need to drill through the frame. (the frame is 175mm wide (and 60mm thick) and made of finger jointed pine. I would like no visible fixings.
I was going to use hammer fixings to go into the masonry, but don't want to knacker the frame face.
Would/could it be a good idea to recess the head of the fixings 10mm into the wood, or would this allow the head to rip through the timber when tightened?
Concrete screws are my next option, just wondered what you pro's would use.
