The lights in my flat flicker and if you are in one room and turn an appliance on in another you occassionally get a dip in the light in original room.

Is this normally a straight forward job to fix or is it a major problem such as a rewire?

Thanks

Holmslaw is correct. The likely culprit is a poor connection on the supply side of the CU. This could be in the CU itself but it could also be in the meter or the service fuse. Listen carefully in these areas while the lights are flickering. A sizzling are crackling sound is a dead giveaway.

A bad connection only ever gets worse and the end result could cost you a new CU or, if it starts a fire, a new flat!
