Floor tile thickness

Hi , sorry if this seems a basic question but I am know looking to buy some ceramic or porcelain floor tiles and I have noticed they have different thicknesses starting at around 8mm
And going above 9mm , I have seen some 8mm I like but am wondering if they are hard wearing or susceptible to damage as opposed to the thicker tile .
